Throughout my marketing and public relations career, the media clip I’m proudest of isn’t from a national outlet—it’s from my hometown newspaper in Sulphur, Louisiana, a small place with a big heart on a Gulf Coast bayou.
The story ran after I was selected to represent the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Next City’s 2013 Vanguard Class, a national cohort of urban planning, environmental, and preservation professionals.
The best part? My mom pitched the story to the paper (clearly, PR runs in the family) and coordinated the visuals and interviews with the reporter. And my grandmother—now 98 —had the print edition delivered to her front porch, my photo right there on the front page.
No professional award or accolade can replace the feeling of your hometown being proud of you. And the mental image of Granny Clement picking up the paper and thinking, “Oh my goodness, Jason Loyd is at it again,” is priceless.
As you’ll see below, I’ve been quoted and featured in local, regional, and national media as a spokesperson for the causes I care about and marketing strategy. But the one from Sulphur will always be closest to my heart—and it still hangs framed above my desk.

Self-Produced Promotional Video: Austin Unscripted Documentary Launch (Featured Below)
National Trust for Historic Preservation, October 1, 2010

In 2011 and while at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, I created and co-produced a seven-segment, person-on-the-street documentary entitled "Buffalo Unscripted," which built on the success of "Austin Unscripted" (featured above). Our team combed the Queen City to tell the real story of a place that everyone seems to have an opinion about – whether they live there or not. Through meet-ups scheduled in neighborhoods across town, we asked Buffalonians to go on camera to talk about their home, its past, and its future. Check out all of the segments below, and fall in love with a city that means the world to me. And where I live today.
