Throughout my marketing and public relations career, the media clip that I am proudest to share is from my hometown newspaper in Sulphur, Louisiana – a small place with a big heart located on the bayous of the Gulf Coast.
It came about because I was accepted to represent the National Trust for Historic Preservation as part of Next City's 2013 Vanguard Class of national urban planning, environmental, and historic preservation professionals.
One of the best parts of this experience is that my mom not only pitched the paper about my accomplishment (clearly, PR runs in the family), but also coordinated all visuals and interviews with the reporter. The other: My grandmother, who is now 96 years old, got the print version delivered on her front porch with my photo on the front page.
No professional award or accolade can ever replace the fact that your hometown is proud of you. And the mental vision of Granny Clement picking up the morning paper and thinking, "Oh my goodness, Jason Loyd is at it again" is priceless.
You can read the article here. It's also framed above my desk and will be forever.
As you will see below, I have appeared and been quoted in many prominent local, regional, and national news outlets as a spokesperson for the causes I support. This one above, however, is the closest to my heart.

Self-Produced Promotional Video: Austin Unscripted Documentary Launch (Featured Below)
National Trust for Historic Preservation, October 1, 2010
In 2011 and while at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, I created and co-produced a seven-segment, person-on-the-street documentary entitled "Buffalo Unscripted," which built on the success of "Austin Unscripted" (featured above). Our team combed the Queen City to tell the real story of a place that everyone seems to have an opinion about – whether they live there or not. Through meet-ups scheduled in neighborhoods across town, we asked Buffalonians to go on camera to talk about their home, its past, and its future. Check out all of the segments below, and fall in love with a city that means the world to me. And where I live today.
